L-Serine is a non-essential amino acid that acts as a precursor for nucleotide synthesis. It has roles in the development and function of the central nervous system. L-Serine also has a role in cellular proliferation.L-Serine has been used in the preparation of Tris-BSAN buffer for homogenization.
