SYBR GREEN I Nucleic Acid Gel Stain CAS:163795-75-3

SYBR Green I is a nucleic acid gel stain commonly used in molecular biology experiments. It is a fluorescent dye that selectively binds to double-stranded DNA and RNA molecules, making them visible under ultraviolet light. SYBR Green I is highly sensitive and can be used to detect and quantify DNA or RNA in agarose or polyacrylamide gels. It is commonly used for DNA gel electrophoresis, PCR analysis, and other molecular biology applications.

Products Details

Application and Effect

DNA gel electrophoresis: SYBR Green I stain is added to the DNA gel after electrophoresis, and when exposed to UV light, it binds to the DNA bands, producing bright fluorescence. This staining method helps to visualize and analyze the DNA fragments separated by size. Quantitative PCR (qPCR): SYBR Green I is commonly used in qPCR to monitor the amplification of DNA or RNA sequences in real-time. The dye binds to the double-stranded DNA generated during PCR amplification, and the increase in fluorescence intensity is measured at each amplification cycle, allowing for the quantification of the starting nucleic acid template. RNA gel electrophoresis: SYBR Green I can also be used for RNA gel electrophoresis, allowing for the visualization and analysis of RNA fragments. It is useful for RNA integrity assessment and for studying RNA expression levels. Nucleic acid labeling and detection: SYBR Green I can be used to label nucleic acids with fluorescence. This can be achieved by incorporating the dye during nucleic acid synthesis or by using post-labeling techniques. The labeled nucleic acids can then be visualized and detected using fluorescent imaging systems.
